Mount Gilead Community Choir

Now in its fifteenth year, the Mount Gilead Community Choir is a volunteer group of area musicians who enjoy singing together and sharing that joy with their neighbors. The choir is open to adult singers without audition.

2009 Christmas Rehearsals to Begin October 4
Rehearsals for the Mount Gilead Community Choir's 2009 Christmas concert will begin Sunday, October 4, at 3:00 p.m. at First Baptist Church, Mount Gilead. This will be the choir's 15th annual Christmas concert.
All area singers are invited to be part of the choir. Rehearsals will continue Sundays at 3:00 through November, and the concert will be Sunday, December 6, at 3:00 p.m.

Community Choir Christmas 2008 concert presented December 7
The Mount Gilead Community Choir presented Christmas Alleluias, its 14th annual Christmas concert, Sunday, December 7, at First Baptist Church, Mount Gilead. The program featured a variety of selections, from Saint-Saens' "Praise Ye the Lord of Hosts" and Bortniansky's "Cherubim Song" to Tom Fettke's arrangement of "Jesus, the Light of the World" and Bill and Gloria Gaither's "What Did You Say Was the Baby's Name?". Soloists sang selections including "Rejoice greatly, O daughter of Zion" from Messiah, David Foster's arrangement of "What Child Is This?" and "Star of the East" (Cooper-Kennedy).
Twenty-six area singers sang with the group this season, and the choir was accompanied by Amanda Lewis-Miriani, a Troy native who will complete her undergraduate studies in music education and performance at Pfeiffer University in spring 2009.

The 2009 Christmas rehearsals are tentatively set to begin Sunday, September 20, at 3:00 p.m. at First Baptist Church, Mount Gilead.
